Built 1873

This home was originally built as a single 2-story home with a step-off porch. Around 1900, Bill and Alli Ferguson bought the house and added 2-6 rooms on the back. Bill was active in politics and Alli was a caterer. After Bill’s death in 1912, Alli’s sister Molly moved in and operated a boarding house known for “good food and comfortable beds with feather ticks.” Frank Hohenberger took most of his meals there. Local historians say drug drummers and salesmen roomed there and ate Allie’s famous greens flavored with salt pork and corn bread.

Bill and Alice Weaver came to Nashville in 1934 and bought the Ferguson House. They opened an antique store and filled the home from top to bottom with “old stuff”. The house became an interesting tourist attraction and a topic of conversation, as it contained many mementos of early Brown County including a buggy, iron cooking utensils, lanterns, dishes, clothing and even a coffin. The home was purchased in 1987 by Andy Rogers and restored.
