Built 1865 The Allison House was created for Alonzo Allison, the editor of the Brown County Democrat (still published weekly), and remained in the Allison family for many years. Alonzo Allison came to Nashville in 1870 from Franklin, IN where he was born. He purchased the Democrat newspaper in 1885 which he ran until his death in 1926 when his wife, known as Jennie, took over as publisher. Alonzo and Jennie’s son Thurle was a mail carrier for many years and was a valued correspondent for the Indianapolis STAR and NEWS. This home was later owned by Milton Elrod, dentist Dr. Rica and Bill Gore. Th Allison House was rennovated in 1983, updated in 2004, and is a highly rated bed and breakfast.
