Built 1875 Honeysuckle Place consists of five commercial shops. It originally was the James M. Jones homestead, which he purchased for his family in 1914. After the death of James M. Jones, few of the immediate family cared to commercialize the property, but they seemed to have little choice due to its location and the direction the surrounding properties were going. Even with the commercialization of the property, a sincere effort has been made to maintain this century old house in its original style and architecture.
Three other buildings were placed on the property in 1968, 1973 and 1976 to add a primitive charm since the property originally had several out buildings which had to be torn down. Numerous
honeysuckle, wisteria, lilac and shrubs on the property were cultivated
by James M. Jones’ wife, Mildred. It is in her memory that her son
William named the property Honeysuckle Place in 1976. |
