Permanent Collection Brown County Art Guild |
As early as 1870, artists came to capture the beauty and enjoy
the peace of Brown County. They worked closely together, comparing and
learning from each other. Many stayed and made Brown County their home. Living conditions were very primitive, but the spirit, principles and quality of art were nobly established. It is a foundation and tradition upon which it is our obligation and trust to continue to build, strengthen and preserve. The first Brown County art association was incorporated in April 1927, with Carl Graf as the first president. In 1954, two groups were formed, one retaining the original name and the other becoming the Brown County Art Guild. The finest quality art with collections by Marie Goth, V. J. Cariani, Carl and Genvieve Graf, and other early Brown County artists are on display. The Guild also features the fine work of 50 active artists. 2007 Special Events and Exhibitions
